Through the Rain: Portraits of Tutu

Published in Bold & Beyond & Featured in Glamour & Fashion (Issue 310, May 2025)

I’m proud to share that images of my portrait series, “Through the Rain: Portraits of Tutu,” an emotive exploration of resilience, identity, and connection, were published by the California-based Bold & Beyond Magazine.

This collection uses the motif of a rain‑covered window to create powerful contrasts in light, texture, and mood, with each image presented in both colour and black & white.

The series was created in collaboration with Tony Oliver and draws inspiration from conceptual portraiture techniques pioneered by photographers such as Gavin Hoey. Featured across nine full pages in Glamour & Fashion (Issue 310, May 2025), this work marked a milestone in pushing my previous boundaries of editorial fine‑art portraiture.

A Parallel Series: Leanne at Floriade

Alongside TuTu’s portraits, my Bold & Beyond features also include a collaboration with model Leanne Madigan and makeup artist Kayla, captured among the vibrant floral backdrop of Canberra’s 2024 Floriade festival. These portraits celebrate openness, light, and elegance in contrast to the intimacy of “Through the Rain.”
